"Skating with the Stars" Should Stay Young at Heart

So, while I’m still not sold on this whole Skating with the Stars competition that will be airing on ABC later this month, there does seem to be one glimmer of hope on the horizon for squeezing some much needed entertainment from this sure to be train wreck of a program. Of course, I’m referring to Sean Young.

For those you who don’t recognize the name (as if you’d recognize any of the D-list celebrities ABC has lined up for this season, maybe its only season), Sean Young is a screen actress who is best known for her performances in films such as Blade Runner, No Way Out, and Dune. Incidentally, I’ve seen none of those titles, but I remember her most as Jim Carrey’s transsexual boss in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
She’s also, for lack of a better term, a freakin’ lunatic.

She infamously campaigned for the part of Catwoman in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns (ultimately losing out to Michelle Pfeiffer), to the extent that she even fashioned her own Catwoman suit and made a somewhat disturbing apperance on The Joan Rivers Show donning this makeshift wardrobe.

She was a guest panlelist on a 2001 episode of Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect, in which she cracked inappropriate jokes about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and did an over the top impression of a person possessed by demonic spirits.

Most recently, Young had to be removed from the 2008 Directors Guild of America awards ceremony, where she excessively heckled one of the nominees during his speech.

There’s no telling how well she will do on Skating, but anyone who is brave (i.e. eccentric) enough to mock Hollywood’s pretentious back patting, poke fun at oppressive organized religion, and shamelessly fight for female empowering roles in film certainly has my vote!

  1. This show just seems crazy dangerous. Even without Sean Young.

  2. I LOVE Sean Young, ever since she flashed her gorgeously hairy armpits on Letterman I thought she was out of control in a fun way. And she's a looker! Look at that get up she's wearing in your post? She'd have to be crazy to wear that!

  3. She's genuine and sincere. You must prefer your celebrities self-absorbed and pretentious...like Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Kim Kardashian, etc...
